About

I love learning things.

  • Started programming to get better at video games at 11. Hosted game servers for friends, wrote scripts to make progress on things while I slept, and eventually made the first "ericiscool.net" in 2014 as a joke.
  • Studied Intl Business/Spanish undergraduate so I could study abroad and went to Costa Rica. Then went to graduate school for Economics / MODSIM, during which time I became a cat dad and started honing the most difficult craft I have ever attempted to hone, mastery in Super Smash Brothers Melee (indeed on the Nintendo Gamecube) (falco main)
  • Last 10 years mostly as a data engineer. Built a SharePoint-backed platform that processed a billion records a year in restricted environments using JavaScript.
  • Published first-author research on de-identifying data using GANs ( MODSIM 2020).
  • Deep into Home Assistant with multiple instances — 200+ devices, the kind of house where everything is automated. I self-host as much as I can between four local servers and three remote, because I'm always cooking something
  • I’m a data engineer and computer science graduate student at Old Dominion University. I build practical systems around messy information and use them to ask better questions about data quality, retrieval, and AI behavior. Current projects include WKB and Carbon; other work includes Wlog and tools for coordination and evaluation in AI-assisted development.
  • Earlier research used a multi-agent development environment to study approval decisions, human interventions, and the relationship between instructions and actions.
  • Competitive Melee and Valorant still somehow occupy significant portions of my days.
  • Started gardening with watermelons and peppers in 2025.
